ORB - Birth, album review

The long thudding fuzzed riff-reach of Black Sabbath is still pounding its one-two-fiffrun-one-two-riffrun-one-two beats in Australian band ORB’s debut release Birth, an ironic title one presumes for such a savvy copycatting-as-accolade band.

It doesn’t thunder as hard as early Sabbath, nor does it have an Ozzy on vocal, or indeed anything remotely like a heavymetal vocalist, and I think that is the one musical misnomer in an otherwise OK headbanger.

Sixteen minute tubular-bells-meets-black closer Electric Blanket is OK too if you have the time and inclination.
